Therapeutic Approach & Background
Robin Banister | Registered Psychotherapist
BA Psychology, Dip Existential & Integrative Psychotherapy
Earlier in my life, before becoming a psychotherapist, I saw how deeply people can suffer when care and understanding are missing. Over time, through my own experiences of living across cultures, moving from small towns to big cities, and being immersed in many different walks of life, I came to understand that healing is rarely linear, but it’s always possible. Those experiences shaped how I show up as a therapist: grounded, compassionate, and able to meet people wherever they’re at.
My work is rooted in a humanistic approach: one that values self-discovery, free will, and the innate potential for growth in every person. Drawing from my extensive training and a life lived across borders and perspectives, I take an integrative approach to therapy, blending different methods and tools to fit each client’s needs, rather than expecting anyone to fit into a single framework.
In our work together, I hold your autonomy and voice at the centre. You’re the expert on your own experience, I’m here to listen, reflect, and help you find clarity, steadiness, and new ways of relating to yourself and others.
I work with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship patterns, self-esteem, sexuality, and questions of meaning or direction. I’m also passionate about harm reduction, drug education, and psychedelic integration.
At the heart of my practice is a belief that real change happens through connection, the kind built on honesty, empathy, and a willingness to do the work together.
